Ran outside again. Got up at 5:45am. Love it! One thing I did notice is that my legs aren't used to running downhill.

Ran outdoors again tonight. It was about 5 degrees celcius outside. It was dark so I had to wear a white sweat shirt; I need to get some reflective material so I don't get run over.

Technology is Ruining Me!

I've never had too much problems with some of my tech stuff breaking, but this year all hell is breaking loose.

- 2 weeks ago I paid $100 to have my broken LCD replaced on my SD300 point and shoot camera.
- Last Sunday I dropped my Ipod Nano in the toilet ($345 taxes included) - see my March 19 blog entry.
- I extended the warranty on my laptop on Monday for 2 years because my wireless adapter doesn't seem to be working anymore. $119 for 2 years.
- Last night I broke the LCD monitor on my laptop !!! I closed it and didn't see I had the end of a network cable on my keyboard. I removed it and closed it again. When I started the laptop the next time I saw it was busted. Only half the screen is working now. I didn't have the courage to call Dell for a quote yet. Between $350 and $500 to fix.
- This afternoon I go to take a few photos of my kids with my SD300 and noticed the zoom doesn't work anymore. The zoom button doesn't seem to respond, not the lens - I can't magnify on Replay mode either. Do I really want to send it in for a month + and then pay some more?

F(**&&^^ ! That's why god invented income tax refunds I suppose.

Anyhoo, at least I don't have rectal cancer - I think.

My first long run outside today! Weeeeeeeeeee! Still lots of snow on the ground but the roads and sidewalks are pretty clean. I came to one conclusion: Grand Falls is one "hilly" town. You can't get away from them. I probably ran 1 mile out of 6.5 on flat ground. Some are slight slopes but some are killer. Major heartbeats! I can't wait to get my GPS watch so I can see the elevation changes and monitor my heart rate. I also won't have to take a drive after the run to determine the distance ran.

I thought I was going really slow but I still managed a pace of 9.7 minute/mile or a 10k pace of 1 hour 28 seconds.

It was a bit chilly but not too bad. I dressed just right. It was +8C this afternoon (46F).

March 25:

Ran outside for the first time this year. The crappy treadmills finally were dead this morning so I decided to head outside. I ran 2 miles outside, then I did some eleptical trainer and stair master. I'll try to run outside tomorrow if the weather permits

Ipod Nano in the toilet!!!

Ipod Nano in the toilet!!! Yep, you read correctly, I dropped my Nano in the toilet. I ran 11 miles at the gym today and had to take a huge crap since about mile 8. So I do my thing in the toilet and flush. When I got up to put my shorts back up the Nano fell in the toilet. It was working at first but it's dead now. I'm going to try to put the hair dryer to it a little bit. Still a funny story. My first $300 turd. The good news is the toilet was pretty much done flushing when it fell in. Still nasty.

I had a super run today. Ran 11 miles (my longest one yet) and was feeling very comfortable. I pigged out last night on carbs like I usually do Saturday nights: Pringles, red licorice, toast, and waffles. Oink oink! I think all those carbs fueled my run today. Felt great.

Long run this morning ... 10 miles in 1 hour 41 minutes. It just struck me today how far I have come. Last April I had tried to start jogging and could only do a quarter mile, and that was pushing it. I quit because it was just too difficult. I started running in June on a treadmill at the gym. This way, I was able to gradually increase my distance.

Had a great run today. Ran 6 miles but with different intervals. I was talking to my bud Danny and he said he tried some interval training, so I decided to mix it up because I feel I'm pushing too hard when running. I wanted to average a 10 minute mile. I have been trying to slow down my pace on most of my runs.
